Announcement of Chief Deputy Running Mate
I am proud to announce that, after a thoughtful and prayerful decision-making process, I
have selected Lieutenant Chris King of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department as my running mate and future Chief Deputy for the Little River County Sheriff’s Department.
Chris and I first met back in 2006 when we went through the Arkansas Police Training Academy together. Since then, I’ve seen him grow into a strong leader and someone who truly cares about serving others. Chris is currently serving as my Lieutenant, at the 8 th South Drug Task Force. Through our combined efforts of “no quit” work ethic and desire to make the 8 th South Judicial District a safer place, the hardworking unit of men have had great success.
Chris is a lifelong Ark-La-Tex native with over 20 years of service in law enforcement. He has been married to his wife, Lindsey a dedicated educator for 22 years, and together they have two children. The Kings are active members of First Baptist Church Texarkana and find joy in serving the Lord. Outside of work, Chris enjoys time on their family farm and is also passionate about fitness and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a discipline he has spent years mastering.
Currently, Chris serves as a Lieutenant with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department. In this role, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Assistant Commander of the Patrol Division, Commander of the Hostage Negotiation Team, and his current role as Commander of the 8th South Drug Task Force. During these leadership roles Chris has been responsible for managing budgets and managing multiple state and federal funded grants. During this time Chris has also led the application process of multiple state and federal funded grants, all with great success! These skills will be beneficial as we take steps to improve within the Sheriff and Collectors Offices of Little River County.
Most recently, I witnessed Chris’s leadership firsthand as he supervised multiple law enforcement officers from different agencies during the 2025 Four States Fair and Rodeo. The Officers united and worked together to accomplish a common goal, to protect the citizens. Under his direction, the event ran smoothly without fights or major incidents, no small feat for an event that has seen serious issues in years past. I firmly believe this was achieved by Chris leading from the front as an active supervisor not “bossing” from the rear.
Chris has served with TAPD for 19 years. Before that, he worked with the Department of Homeland Security in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. His leadership and desire to help others began when he served as a Field Training Officer, which fueled his passion for helping new officers develop their skills through training and experience. Chris went on to serve as a traffic investigator and a SWAT team member for several years. He served as a patrol sergeant, field training coordinator, and assistant commander of the Bi-State Narcotics Task Force. While serving as assistant commander of the Bi-State NTF Chris was assigned to the FBI Task Force out of the Texarkana field office and collaborated with multiple agencies to better serve the region. Chris is a team player who knows
what it takes to get the job done effectively.
Chris brings a wealth of experience, innovative thinking, and a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and service. His dedication to improving community safety and quality of life is clear in everything he does. Chris has proven to be trustworthy, honest, and professional.
I believe Chris King is the right person to serve as Chief Deputy, to help lead the Little River County Sheriff’s Department into a new chapter of service and excellence. Please Pray for Chris and Lindsey as they prepare to move their home and farm to Little River County. Join my family in welcoming their family!
